Travel restrictions due to COVID-19 has resulted in 0 visitors from April to June for the year 2020. Repatriation flights commenced in September 2020. A total of 7,746 arrivals were recorded for the year 2018 and approximately 40% of the arrivals were tourists/visitors. For the year 2019, about 47% of arrivals were tourists/visitors with a total of 7,748 arrivals recorded. The increase is most probably due to an increase in visitors for the Pacific Islands Forum that was held in Funafuti in August 2019. The Tuvalu Central Statistics Division collects departure and arrival forms from the Immigration department and enters the data into a database. Analysis is then carried out on the entered data to produce certain statistics such as the number of visitors/tourists per year by month and more.
